The end of the world?
This is actually an essay I plan to write..=>
There are things that we don’t want to happen but have to accept, things that we don’t want to know but have to learn. I believe that this quote speaks true of a particular event that many try to evade but find their efforts barren. We have to face it whether we choose to or not. This event is doomsday also known to many as the apocalypse. Many questions arise in the minds of many when this topic is brought to the surface.
Is doomsday dawning upon us? More importantly, is earth succumbing to its end on the exact date-21/12/2012? Apart from the Mayan calendar ending on that particular date, we are left with little proof. The Mayan calendar points to the highly unabated date, 21st December 2012. Why is it unabated? Why is it feared? Some may ask. Probably because many are unprepared to face what comes after the apocalypse. Have we done enough good to enter a better place or are we standing on dangerous ground? Much hype surrounds this grim topic- namely the apocalypse. A movie was made last year concerning this very topic. Entitled 2012, the very title suggests that the earth is reaching its end, that humanity is bound to face the end of the world in the year 2012. Even a song was created about the end of our planet- ironically it’s also entitled 2012 even though the artist behind this musical effort shows no sign of believing the infamous Mayan prophecy.
The world may not end on that exact date made famous by the ancient prophecy but many events that have occurred show tell tale signs of its fore coming end. Many spiritual leaders predict that planet earth will be reaching its demise soon. Their words are supported by the rapid and shocking climate changes around us. One example would be global warming. Scientists have predicted the scenario of global warming- rising water levels caused by melting glaciers that will eventually rise over any form of land. Other drastic climate changes have also occurred. From terrible floods to untimely earthquakes, our planet is in danger.
Apart from the infamous prediction that the world ends in 2012, there have been other prediction though rarely spoken about. This predictions are probably lacking in the popularity department due to its timeline. Some of them are years and years away and fail to instil fear in the hearts of many. However, the matter of years is not going to stop the apocalypse. Be it 2012 or 2060 or maybe even 3003, the world is still going to end one day and maybe sooner than later. The ingenious Isaac Newton who discovered the force of gravity, predicted that the earth will finally meet its end on the year 2060. He may be the one who discover why a glass falls down to the floor (and unfortunately breaks) when we drop it...but is his prediction true? Honestly his prediction fails to frighten many young people. If a teenager is 14, he would freak out more at the thought of the world ending in 2012 than in 2060. He would only be 16 and still living the teenage dream whereas in 2060 he would be 65, and most probably an aging grandfather. But then again, there might be some people that want an earlier end for mother earth rather than a late one. I believe that desire varies by individual and everyone has a reason for their hopes and desires. Either way the thought of doomsday is a scary one.
We may not know when our world is going to end but we have a feeling that it might happen sometime soon. However only time will tell and hopefully it won’t be too late for mankind by then.

End of holidays.
The week is coming to an end and sadly it is the warning sign indicating the end of the Chinese New Year holidays. But not all is bleak, all in all I'll say that I had a pretty good week. I havent been able to catch up with How I Met Your Mother season 5 on Mondays due to tution so im hopefully waiting for the reruns. Other than that, the holidays have been pretty okay, not smooth sailing but its been rather fun. I am currently hooked to Faber Drive's Give Him Up..Its quite good with a message concealed within the lyrics. Have a great week ahead and Happy Chinese New Year.

American Idol 2011
Hi everyone. As it is the currently the 10th season of American Idol, I think that the world is abuzz about the new judges, rock outfit Aerosmith's frontman and famous hispanic songstress. I seriously believe that the addition of Steve Tyler and Jennifer Lopez to the panel of judges was a indeed an awesome idea. The past seasons of american idol have been rather boring and the presence of the new judges have been a breath of fresh air.I was thinking of skipping this season but I think a lot of people (including me) are going to enjoy this season. Moving on to the senior judge Randy, I think he should think of other words of advice to give apart from his usual extremely predictable syllables. There were lot of touching stories this year that opened my eyes to the plight of others. Chris Medina's story was a touching albeit an eye opening one. Doing what he did for his partner is far from easy and he is definitely one in a million. His cover of The Scripts, Breakeven was really good and honest.
This season has been more inspiring. A public accountant tried out with a rendition of The Scripts, The Man Who Cant be Moved (songs by this irish band have been quite a favourite this year)and he made the cut. I believe that this speaks true to the original message of American Idol that anyone who has the talent deserves the chance. Their famliy background, education and career waver in the background while their talent shines and inspire millions more to go for their dreams.
